Book, Contemporary architecture in Brazil[LS]
Descrição
According to Yves Bruand, the opposition between 'modern architecture' and 'traditional architecture' is dangerous, as this limit varies according to the point of view of those who use the terms. In this sense, avoiding them, the author focuses and makes a study of the most complete promoters of the architectural movement in the country, whose profound mark of personal originality and collective expression, allowed us to characterize what could appropriately be called Brazilian architecture. Warchavchik, Niemeyer, Lucio Costa, Reidy, Rino Levy, Artigas and others are the subject of rigorous analyzes regarding their individual achievements and their participation in groups such as the Ministry of Education, Pampulha, Brasilia, etc. The triumph of new architecture, the result of international rationalism and the influence of Le Corbusier, acquired in Brazil such originality and autonomy that it stood out in the eyes of the entire world, as one of its most notable artistic and cultural contributions in this field.
