In a work to reconstruct the translation method, the work analyzes elements such as rhythm, sound and meaning, highlighting the originality and extension of the German poet's translation by transcending canonical readings and remaining faithful to the Greek original. Hölderlin seeks to clarify Antigone's tragic paradox, adding lurid details to the verses that make the eponymous character a surprising heroine. Understood as disloyal to Sophocles' intent, Hölderlin's translation gains new defense in this publication, which intercedes for the modernization of the text and the highlighting of what was already innovative in the classical imagination.'
