Book, Love of single men, O[LS]

Language: Brazilian Portuguese. In the heat of a Rio suburb, a boy grows up surrounded by football matches, conversations about terreiros and the past of his father, a doctor in the 1970s. As a teenager, he receives at home a boy sponsored by his father, who dies some time later in an episode of aggression. The boy grows up and this past haunts him daily, dictating the direction of his life. This story, apparently banal, is developed with fictional mastery and almost Machadian grandeur by Victor Heringer. Owner of fluent and malleable prose, in addition to a derisory view of life, the author demonstrates complete mastery in the construction of scenes and characters. And it moves the reader with its delicate perception of reality.
