Book, 50 sonnets by Shakespeare[LS]
Descrição
50 Sonnets features some of the most exquisite and poignant compositions ever written. They deal with eternal subjects, such as love and beauty, memory and mortality, and the destruction caused by Time. The result of constant work of improvement, the work brings together almost a third of Shakespeare's production in this type of poetry — in total, the author composed 154 sonnets. This edition is bilingual, which enriches the reading experience, and features a careful and prestigious translation by Ivo Barroso, who dedicated decades to studying the Bard. The standard established by the translator was to maintain as close as possible to the meaning of the original text, combining the desire to preserve, in Portuguese, the engaging poetry of Shakespeare's verses. The work also features a preface by Antônio Houaiss and an excellent study by Nehemias Gueiros — one of the most substantial essays on Shakespeare and Elizabethan poetry ever produced in Brazil.
