Based on Lacan's questions about the situation at the beginning of the analysis, studied by Freud in The Beginning of Treatment, the author reviews the practical and theoretical foundations of the first steps of the process: the preliminary interviews, the use of the couch, the time and money, to which is added the analytical act, that is, the action of transfer. The book contemplates the many implications of each of these components, from details surrounding the time and space of the office to the ethical meaning of psychoanalysis itself.
