Black Intellectuals Contemporary Brazilian Black Prose - by Mirian Cristina Dos Santos
Black Intellectuals Contemporary Brazilian Black Prose - by Mirian Cristina Dos Santos
Descrição
Starting from a clear and explicit place of speech - that of the black woman - the author, at the outset, states that she proposes to discuss the role of the black woman as an intellectual engaged in the struggle for the transformation of Brazilian society, based on black-feminine narratives contemporary. Such clarity of objective guides the work as a whole, whether in the discussion of racial relations, 'everyday politics' (in bell hooks' terms), or in questioning the process of constitution of Brazil's cultural identity, in the midst of abolition inconclusive. Situating the authors chosen as the literary corpus of their work - namely, miriam alves, conceição evaristo and cristiane sobral - it sets out for theoretical conceptualization, placing them as true intellectuals, insofar as, in their books, they "address the main demands of black woman in contemporary times, give visibility to African and Afro-Brazilian cultures, denounce the marginalized and subordinated condition of black people and make this literature written by women a place of strength, resistance, affirmation and denunciation".
