Feminism and Politics - by Luis Miguel & Flávia Biroli
Descrição
In the political theory produced in recent decades, the contribution of feminism has proven crucial. The debate on the position of women in contemporary societies opened doors to thematize, question and complexify the central categories through which the universe of politics was thought, such as the notions of individual, public space, autonomy, equality, justice and democracy. It is no longer possible to discuss political theory ignoring or relegating feminist theory to the margins, which, in this sense, is a thought that starts from gender issues but goes beyond them, reorienting all our values and analysis criteria. The book presents and discusses the main contributions of feminist political theory produced since the 1980s. The terms in which the debates take place within feminism itself are presented, mapping the positions of different authors and currents. The result is an unprecedented overview of current feminist political theory, written in a way that introduces unfamiliar readers to the discussions, without reducing their complexity.
