Devastation - by Tânia Ralston
Descrição
Devastação brings together poems by writer and artist Tânia Ralston, in an illustrated edition with three reproductions of the author's paintings. The launch takes place on the terrace of the Mário de Andrade Library in São Paulo. There will be readings of poems by the author, Sofia Mariutti and Bruno Zeni.
Devastação brings together 36 poems that highlight the tension between the free – and sometimes libertarian – character of sexuality and the constraints of the intellect, the social environment and tradition. To these frameworks, the author's poetry contrasts an erotic lyric, a feminine and disenchanted irony, the languor of sex, sleep and dreams. The body appears in situations that express these contradictions, such as the lovers' room, Carnival, the most telluric landscapes and nature, such as the waterfall, the sea, the hot lands of a farm, in opposition to the original and first nature: the of religion and sin. The verses highlight the dissatisfaction and frustration of the sexual impulse, but also the inescapable insistence of desire and an eroticized vision of affections and knowledge.
The book combines typography (in the texts) and digital printing (in the images). The Quelônio edition uses special paper on the cover and inside. The book's translucent guard is made of handcrafted Manioka paper, in a very fine weight of 7 g/m2, made by Moinho Brasil. Edition of 300 numbered copies. Illustrations by the author, cover and graphic design by Sílvia Nastari, manual sewing and finishing by Júlia Estronioli, editing by Bruno Zeni.
