Even after almost three decades of his death, Cazuza continues to be remembered, sung, read, celebrated, honored and thought about. Expressions such as “time does not stop” and “the poet is alive” (and its variants, including the pun “Viva Cazuza”) have been frequently associated with his name in titles of shows, events, films, reports and books, in a continuous work to preserve his memory. This book is another gesture of thinking about Cazuza as the great composer of songs (and, in particular, a great lyricist) of Brazilian popular music, in addition to analyzing his work based on the strength that popular songs have to portray, question and reinvent everyday life.
