More than three hundred years of slavery left Brazil with a society in which racism infiltrates everyday life in the most perverse ways. From the coloring pencils used at school to the terms with which people define themselves, resulting from the range of tones that miscegenation - recognized or not - produces, the beauty of color and diversity is only now beginning to be noticed.
