Descrição
Language: Brazilian Portuguese. "Result of the first course of the Paulo Freire Chair, at PUC-SP on Pedagogy of the Oppressed, held on the 30th anniversary of the publication of the best-known work of the Patron of Brazilian Education, this Pedagogy of Liberation in Paulo Freire brings together texts by researchers and educators from different countries. The book seeks to preserve the memory and trajectory of the great ethical-political-educational epic of the world and critically analyze the utopian saga of Paulo Freire's innovative dreams against oppression and for the liberation of all people. * In 1963, in Angicos, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, three hundred rural workers were taught literacy in just 40 hours, using the method proposed by Paulo Freire. This was the result of the pilot project of what would become the National Literacy Program of the government of João Goulart, president who would be deposed in March 1964. In October of that same year, Freire left Brazil to protect his own life and only returned to visit the country in 1979, with the opening of democracy. Throughout his history, Paulo Freire received more than one hundred honorary doctorates from several national and foreign universities, in addition to numerous awards, such as Education for Peace, from UNESCO, and the Order of Cultural Merit, from the Brazilian government. Member of the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame and the Reading Hall of Fame. * “Many people think that I developed all these themes because I specialize in adult literacy. No no and no. It's not like this. It is logical that adult literacy is something that I studied deeply, but I studied this topic due to a social need in my country, as a challenge. Secondly, I studied adult literacy within the context of education and within the framework of the theory of knowledge, but not as something in itself, because as such it does not exist.” "
