This work, which has been a reference on the subject for over 30 years, emerged as an important support for studies on the economy and financial management of the public sector. The main characteristics of the Brazilian budget system and process are presented and analyzed, providing a comprehensive view of state action. In this 18th edition, references and examples of budget system laws (PPA, LDO and LOA) have been updated, as well as the income and expense classifiers. Emphasis was also given to the Constitutional Amendment that makes the programming approved through amendments by state benches in the National Congress mandatory.
