Coordinated by Professor Regina Casz Schechtman, an expert and passionate about the subject, with the participation of Professor David Rubem Azulay, who, as an eminently clinical dermatologist, greatly recognizes the importance of mycology in medical practice.Medical Mycology was organized into 28 chapters, that address relevant topics, including current diagnostic methods, such as PCR, serological tests, culture media, and modern antifungals that are so fundamental to the new clinical conditions arising from the increasing number of immunosuppressed patients and exposures resulting from travel to exotic locations. Furthermore, it addresses the important issue of drug interactions with new drugs introduced into medicine, as well as the growing development of fungal resistance to several previously efficient antifungals.
