In preparing this Mathematics text, the authors sought to make the work accessible, often leaving the typical formalism of mathematical treatment, to facilitate the assimilation of the subject and make the assimilated knowledge useful and operational. As a result, the degree of communication between text and student is considered, in addition to making the efforts of teachers in the area more productive. In this fifth edition, they have simplified the language even further by dealing with issues such as functions, limits and continuity, compound functions, derivation. In volume 1, the applications part on integration was reformulated to better adapt the text to its objectives. The same happened with volume 2, where the treatment of R" as a vector space was excluded. On the other hand, applications increased in quantity and quality, giving a more detailed treatment of other topics, such as market demand and supply, equilibrium point , leveling point, total revenue, total cost, total profit, even exploring mathematical models associated with monopoly and pure competition. In the two volumes, more than 2,000 exercises were included, of which around 300 were solved.
