Text based on the official program for the National Master's Competition in Economics of ANPEC – National Association of Postgraduate Centers in Economics. Microeconomics (or Price Formation Theory) is considered the most basic of all disciplines in Economic Science. In effect, it provides the analytical tools that are employed by practically all branches of dominant economic thought. This book seeks to show, in a didactic manner, the techniques used in the construction of microeconomic models. To this end, it initially presents a succinct explanation of the functioning of market mechanisms. From there, it develops analyzes of consumer behavior, production conditions and costs of a firm and the behavior of firms in different market structures. Finally, it addresses the joint functioning of markets in an economy and discusses some issues of the so-called theory of economic well-being. It incorporates all items listed in the program for the ANPEC Competition, including all questions requested in recent years, with the respective answers. Textbook for the subjects Microeconomics and Microeconomic Theory of Economics and Business Administration courses.
