Descrição
To understand the essence of the work, it is necessary to keep in mind the basic concepts about the elements that will be addressed: statistics and the Lean Six system. According to the author, statistics is the science that deals with the collection, processing and arrangement of data (information), acting as a fundamental tool in problem-solving processes. Thus, it is inferred that a statistics professional will be able to more easily identify a problem in their area of activity, determine the correct data for analysis, collect this data and, based on the conclusions, determine an action plan for the solution to the detected problem. About Lean Six, it is important to highlight that this is a program resulting from the integration of the favorable points of Six Sigma (a disciplined and quantitative strategy, which aims to increase the performance and profitability of companies, through improving the quality of products and processes and increasing of customer and consumer satisfaction) and Lean Manufacturing (an initiative that seeks to exclude what has no value for the customer and speed up the company), being a more effective and appropriate strategy for solving all types of problems related to improvement of processes and products. With these concepts in mind, it can be said that countless companies have realized that selling low-quality products (with defects or reduced reliability) reduces their competitiveness. These companies are also aware that the implementation of a quality improvement program can eliminate waste, reduce the rate of defective products manufactured, reduce the need for inspections and increase customer satisfaction, factors that imply an increase in productivity. and the competitiveness of companies. This work aims to combine the importance of statistics in quality management with the program created to improve the company's processes.
